What follows is only a shot introduction to the Plum Village and with it Thich Nhat Hanh. I encourage readers to follow the link at the bottom to learn more.
Plum Village is a Buddhist Monastery started in Thenac, Dordogne, France by Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh. The community consists of four hamlets that house meditation centers, sleeping quarters for monks, nuns, and laypeople as well as gardens and walks. Plum Village is a monastic retreat and mindfulness/meditation center in the Mahayana Buddhist Tradition (specifically a distillation of the Bodhisattva or Enlightened Being Teachings.) The Plum Village has grown since its inception in 1982 to encompass not only the meditation center here but all over the world in France, the United States, Germany, Thailand, and Australia. Centered on the ideals of mindfulness and peace, the Plum Village is a place where adherents and visitors try to live in the moment.
