The Krka National park in Croatia contains 109 square miles along the Krka River. Containing hundreds of various flora and fauna, it is a wildlife area that is serene as well as peaceful. Being able to either boat, walk, or simply meditate in connection with this eastern European area allows the mind to wander and simply be. The waterfalls at either Skradinski buk or Roški Slap allow the quiet meditation of water and the fluid movement that is a tenant of many different sects and religions. While both areas are tourist attractions, they are large enough to offer up out of the way places to sit and contemplate nature.
In addition to the natural locations, the Krka National Park also contains the island of Visovac and the Krka
Monastery. Located on the island of Visovac, the Monastery of Krka was founded in the 14th century and dedicated to the Archangel Michael. It is part of the Serbian Orthodox Church, a autocephalous Orthodox Christian churches. Roman catacombs can be found under the main monastery church. This is used as proof the Apostle St. Paul preached Christianity in this area. Burned during the Turk/Venetians wars, it was restored in the 1880s. Besides the main monastery and the chapel of St. Sava, the compound contains a very rich treasury of relics, icons, and art along with two extensive libraries.
