The week marked a return to the Retreat Gardens. Because of events at the Retreat, the caretaking of the garden was minimalized to the point where the term overgrown was starting to be used. Clean out and ground sweeping as well as removing some very inconvenient trees. There is still a considerable amount of work to be done but overall it is nice to be out there and moving around again.
Unfortunately, the heat in the area has been downright oppressive recently. The summer started with 105+ degree weather and has hovered around that area almost continuously. In addition, the humidity has been higher than normal which means the heat index is also higher than normal. Several of the younger and more tender plants have passed.
The rainy season has hit though and last night’s rain was very nice and very soothing, not only because of temperature but also the energy that was present.
