An Ode to Dr. S

In exploring new and old poetic expressions, I came across a Tanka.  Similar to the Haiku or earlier Hokku, it used a defined set of syllables (5-7-5-7-7) along with a overarching thematic.  In the case of the Tanka, it was a courtly or religious theme.  Below is the first attempt at this, using a morals play in place of a overtly religious theme.  Enjoy!

Siblings rival with fish.

A cat…a hat…fun.

A lesson and a warning…

Normal children misbehave.
