Crowded Solitude

I sit in a public park, alone but for everyone. Tame wild ducks move by quietly, seeking shelter for the night. In the distance, the lights glow like shadows, illuminating nothing. Overhead, the dim yellow glow of a streetlight becomes the sun, the moon, and the stars. On the choppy water is the still image of the silvery moon above. I feel connected to life while sitting alone.

Veiled moon above

Reflection on the water

Miles separate
