There is an old expression that says “Weep for the Future”. Why? The future is mutable and unwritten. While cause may follow effect, thousands of tiny variable and choices make it mystery from moment to moment. Not so the past though. Set in stone, crumbling from the moment it is laid down, it contains not only the most glorious accomplishment but also the mistakes…regrets…pain…suffering. We are what the world has built us to be. But weeping for the future? It is unwritten, bright, and unimaginably free. The past stretches out behind us, known and getting smaller by the second. Weep for the past.
