There are any number of paths and sermons that discuss harmony. Virtually every religion, philosophy, and/or sect has a view on who we should live in harmony with, how it should be done, and what force drives it. Many times though these discussions overlook the most basic harmony, a harmony with ourselves.
While not the center of the universe, the human mind/body/spirit connection models the cosmos. Emotions such as harmony, love, understanding, and truth all start with coming to terms with our own inner challenges. A popular phrase at the Retreat is “You cannot expect someone to love you until you love yourself.” This is not a form of narcissism, it simply means that until the individual sees the importance of their own uniqueness and path, others will rarely share that vision.
Finding harmony in the mind/body/spirit connection is very important. Understanding that there is no duality and we are one being allows us to step forward along the path of self-actualization. Understanding this connection means that we can look at and deal with the non-physical factors that may affect our health. All of this circles around itself, forming the swirling microcosm that is the I.
Acceptance of yourself and who you are is one of the first stepping stones on a path of self-actualization. Being able to harmonize with the outside world starts on the inside.
