In a few days, a visitor to the Retreat will be returning from a Retreat of her own, a place she goes to help others in service and to center herself. While she has been missed the last few weeks, there is happiness in her journey as well as happiness in her return.
Pictured here is Mitre Peak, a mountain outside of Alpine, Texas. Home to several youth camps, it is the summer destination not only for those seeking growth experiences but also those who wish to serve with their lives in some way, shaping the minds of those around them.
An important aspect of service to the community is the raising of children. An old proverb states “It takes a village to raise a child”. This is no more true than now, when that village can sometimes be global. Before, it was a community that added to the knowledge and wisdom of growth as well as encouraging and guiding.
