“Get busy living or get busy dying.” While plucked from a pop culture movie, in some ways it encompasses the Taoist mantra combined with the American mindset. Things happen in every person’s life that makes it seem like the days are never going to end. With every new stressor, time creeps on. In the end though, you have to get busy living or get busy dying. The only great hope is that either you will figure this out or that someone will inspire you to do so.
“Yesterday is History. Tomorrow is a Mystery. Today is a gift, that is why they call it the Present.” This is a longer and somewhat more picturesque version of the first quote. It embodies the same ideal though, live for now. Remember the lessons of yesterday but do not dwell. Look forward to tomorrow but do not lose sight of where you live today.
