In the bustling modern society, we often lose focus on some of the simpler things in life. The simplest but often most important is sleep. Sleep not only allows our bodies and minds to rest but our dreams carry with them the wonders and challenges of the day. Desire slips away while the soul wanders through other realms. Insight is sought and can sometimes be found through the discussions with our subconscious we call dreams. Without sleep, we become irritable and sluggish. Without our dreams, life loses its luster until we become nervous and unfocused.
On the other hand, giving over to slumbering, resting beyond our bodies needs can also lead to challenges. As with all things (including itself) sleep must be approached in moderation. While it rejuvenates, sleep can also be used to hide from the outside world. Dreams become nightmares and soon create an almost waking world. Like many things, too much of a good thing becomes detrimental.
